DJ Debutante on Wax DJs →
Ranga Sexy 2—The Dark Angel Mix is now on Wax DJs as well as Soundcloud. Please listen & leave love. All the support I’ve received so far is majorly appreciated. Trying to get a podcast going starting with the next mix. Now I just have to aim to do one monthly instead of quarterly. :-)

Friday Night--Conversation with a Pilot
Capped off my homecoming (eh? Why do I call it going home since West Palm Beach is my home now?) by going to Mix in Long Branch to catch my friend Angel Manuel throw it down. Hung with him talking shop for a while before treating myself to Mix’s specialties—one of their fab martinis. Ended up with a Caramel Apple Martini. Yum.
While there, I was chatted up by a gentleman who was an...

Thanksgiving Eve...
The last thing I wanted to do on Thanksgiving Eve is to go to a suburban Friday’s-type restaurant for open format, but since the resident (a) has been a good friend of mine for over 8 years and (b) invited me to come down, that’s where I ended up.
He was thrilled to see me. After giving me a friendly hug, he invited me to come into the booth….er, that is, behind the card tables...

DJ Debutante presents: Ranga Sexy 2: The Dark... →
Sequel to Ranga Sexy from the summer. Starts out crazy in love, moving onto the hook-up before going deeper, harder, maybe even a little bit of electro. Dedicated to all the boys I’ve ever crushed on and will ever crush on. They know.
Listen and leave love (or not). Thank you for your continued support.

Anyone have any idea on how to create one? Should really ask my DJ buds, but just throwing it out to the masses.
Also, if anyone has a recommendation on a DJ tumblr to follow, holla at me!
oceans-of-stars asked: Thank you so much babe <3 still can't really compute about it, but thanks for the lovely words. xo

Nobody listens to techno
The same customer who asked who did a Rick Astley song—alright, fine, I get there are two or three people on this planet who aren’t familiar with the concept of rickrolling—also claimed to be a DJ. DJ where, in your bedroom? Not that there’s anything wrong with that, but then he aimed the salvo that would but a stake in my heart of all things music.
“Could you play...

Who does this song?
– Customer at my gig last night. This wouldn’t be noteworthy except the song in question was “Never Gonna Give You Up” Hello, live under a rock much? Even more cringe-worthy: he claims he’s a DJ himself.

You don’t know what you’re drinking? I could just pee in here.
– Jimmy, bartender at The Lounge to a customer who had no clue what he was imbibing. I think he ended up getting a Bay Breeze.

I’ve heard of Gay Skating but never Gay Bowling.
– DJ Joshua Atom, after hearing me describe Gay Bowling at Asbury Lanes, one of my favorite clubs ever and is exactly as it sounds. Gay Bowling FTW!

Thoughts on WMC changing dates
Over the past couple of days, I’ve read with great interest that the WMC moved dates next year from the last week of March to the 8-12. Why? Who knows. Supposedly this is causing varying degrees of chaos, depending on who you ask and if you already booked your plane tickets.
Being I live a little over an hour from South Beach, this barely affects me. While I’ve had fun and met many...

What or Who inspired you to become a DJ? and what...
I always wanted to work in some aspect of the music industry but for some reason the whole political and business side of it was too ugly for me. Ever since I first heard my first disco mixshow, I always thought there was something magical in the way songs changed over seamlessly. I wanted to learn how to do that. It took me years to even figure out more or less what I was doing

This conversation was better when I was rapping Dr. Seuss.

Who did you look up to when you first started...
I like this question, thank you for asking! :) :)
When I first started, I gravitated toward Victor Calderone, Louie DeVito (I know I know), and Robbie Rivera. The 11pm on KTU kind of stuff.
About 4 months into my first residency, I had the pleasure of being teamed up with Angel Manuel. He’s been a big influence of mine ever since, not only for his mixing style, but for his positive and...

What was the name of your 1st pet?
Tabitha (aka Tabby). Yes, I named her after Samantha’s daughter. Strangely, she always preferred my brothers to me.

Crossing my fingers I didn’t trainwreck between tracks 3 and 4. Accidently switched the order of two tracks, which made another mix sound awkward. But I think I’m being too hard on myself, as usual. I’ll post when it goes live and let you judge for yourself.
Taking a step back from the mix as I always do when I complete one. Maybe I’ll celebrate by going downtown for a...

Bought three new tracks from Beatport in the hopes of finding two to complete my set. Had partial success. Setting up tracks for my new demo. Watch this space.
Also: Attacks or no, Tumblr is a fail.

Keep Them Dancing
There was a couple dancing tonight.
I know; my objective as a DJ is to have a packed dance floor. But since I’m really an opening act, I’m usually happy to just have an interested crowd. So to have a couple actually really into what I played was an extra thrill for me—and a challenge. As in, how to keep them dancing. So I stuck to the slightly more mainstream dance tracks, as...
